Winter Warrior

You thrive in chilly climates and are always ready for a snowy adventure. Skiing, snowboarding, and skating are your jam!

Here’s how you can satisfy your winter wanderlust in Huntsville

Winter Warrior - Skiing & Snowboarding
Adrenaline Meets Serenity

Take to the slopes for some alpine skiing and snowboarding at Hidden Valley Highlands Ski Area. This gem of a ski hill has three quad lifts, 15 trails ranging from beginner to black diamond, a terrain park, on-site rentals, and a chalet where you can warm up and grab a snack. Need lessons to build your skills? Certified instructors are available.

Or shush through the forest on Nordic skis — Huntsville has plentiful cross-country ski trails where you can glide to your heart’s content, with two provincial parks and a forest reserve all within easy driving distance of downtown Huntsville.

Winter Warrior - Skating
(N)ice Moves

Skate through the winter landscape at local rinks, trails, and lakes. Visit the uber-popular ice trail at Arrowhead Provincial Park — a bucket list must-do, especially the magical Fire and Ice Nights. Park permits can be booked up to five days in advance (strongly recommended to ensure you aren’t turned away at the gate). Or check out Huntsville’s outdoor rinks in the natural granite bowl at Lion's Lookout or the new refrigerated rink right downtown at River Mill Park.

Winter Warrior - Snowshoeing
Silent Steps, Stunning Sights

Make tracks — snowshoe tracks that is — through Muskoka’s abundant forests. Arrowhead, Algonquin, and Ragged Falls provincial parks and Limberlost Forest & Wildlife Reserve have a multitude of trails to explore. Or visit Muskoka Heritage Place for a new snowshoe experience, available on select days all winter long.

Need some gear for your winter adventure? Outdoor equipment rentals are available from the Algonquin Outfitters location in downtown Huntsville.
