About the Group of Seven Outdoor Gallery

Conceived in 1997 by local artist Gerry Lantaigne, the Group of Seven Outdoor Gallery began with a single mural commission and has since grown into a massive, year-round open-air exhibition. Today, the gallery features over 100 world-class, hand-painted replicas of iconic works by Canada's most celebrated landscape artists and their visionary contemporary, Tom Thomson. While the Main Gallery showcases a dense, walkable collection of 40 striking murals transforming the exterior brick walls and back-alleys of downtown Huntsville into a vibrant canvas, the trail extends into beautiful satellite galleries across Lake of Bays and directly into Algonquin Provincial Park. By moving these masterpieces out of traditional museums and placing them directly onto the streets, the gallery creates a unique historical bridge—allowing you to experience these renowned images in the very geographic region that sparked the birth of Canada's modern art movement over a century ago.
