Orange Shirt Day

Sep 30, 2024 @ 10:45 am9:00 pm

Orange Shirt Day

Orange Shirt Day is a day to commemorate the residential school experience, to witness and honour the healing journey of the survivors and their families, and to commit to the ongoing process of reconciliation. The Huntsville Public Library, Hope Arises Project, the Algonquin Theatre and the Town of Huntsville are committed to keeping the reconciliation process alive. Come gather, march and stand in solidarity this Monday September 30, 2024.

  • 10:45 AM – Gather at River Mill Park.
  • 11 AM – March downtown Huntsville.
  • 12 – 1 PM – Special Guest Speaker at River Mill Park.

The Nature of Healing

The Nature of Healing is the spoken truth of seven courageous people who survived the Mohawk Institute, Canada’s first and longest running “Indian” residential school. From victim to survivor, to activist, this is story of resistance, resilience and a healing path.

The Elders, Grandfathers and Grandmothers who share do so not only for themselves, but for the thousands of children across Turtle Island who never could. May we be open to learn, intently listen and may they continue to teach.
