Art of Time Ensemble performs SGT Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band

July 23, 2024 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

SGT Peppers

A DRAMATIC REIMAGINING OF THIS CLASSIC ALBUM FEATURING A 12-PIECE ORCHESTRA AND VOCALS FROM 4 CANADIAN POP ICONS

The 1967 release of The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band set the soundtrack for the “summer of love” with an alter-ego ensemble employing innovative musical production, uncommon instrumentation, and a fantastic orchestral lineup for a progressive and ultimately timeless album featuring such favorites as Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, When I’m Sixty-Four, With a Little Help from My Friends, and A Day in the Life.

Toronto’s Art of Time Ensemble, a chamber music collective comprised of the best artists on the Canadian scene and led by concert pianist Andrew Burashko, has transformed the way audiences experience music. Fusing “high art” and popular culture in concerts that juxtapose the best of each, Art of Time entertains as it enlightens, revealing the universal qualities that lie at the heart of all great music. Art of Time’s take on the Fab Four features thoughtfully reimagined arrangements and tight vocal harmonies presented by an indie dream quartet (exciting announcement coming soon!) —resulting in a powerful celebration of what Rolling Stone dubbed “the most important rock and roll album ever made.”

We would like to respectfully acknowledge that we are on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabeg, specifically the Chippewa, Ojibwa and Potawatomi peoples, under the terms of the Robinson-Huron Treaty #61 of 1850, and the Williams Treaties of 1923.

We are grateful to be here. We hope you are too.

Together, we honour all Indigenous peoples – First Nations, Métis and Inuit – for their cultures, their languages, their wise teachings and ways of being, their stewardship and protection of the lands and waters - and life - that have shaped this country since time began.

Together, we commit to acknowledge, to learn, to educate, to create opportunity and to honour sacred places, and to take actions toward real Truth and Reconciliation in support of our commitment to wellness for all, and to walking the path together in respect, peace and harmony for future generations.

G’chi miigwech. Thank you very much.
