2021 Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival

The Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour will be online this year!

The Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival, one of the largest and most prestigious mountain festivals in the world, is doing things a bit differently this year. Due to COVID-19 concerns, the Banff Centre has decided to offer a virtual festival and world tour. You’ll be able to sign up through Algonquin Outfitters to watch the 45th world tour online, in the comfort of your own home!

Within the upcoming weeks, you’ll be able to purchase links to different film packages and Algonquin Outfitters will be your virtual host. These high-quality films will offer provocative and exhilarating explorations of the mountain world, from intriguing individuals and remote cultures to breath-taking landscapes and adrenaline-pumping action sports. For $15 USD, you’ll be able to choose from different program packages and will have three days to watch a selection of films that will total over 2.5 hours of viewing. You’ll also be able to sign up for more than one package of the Banff Centre’s curated collection of mountain and adventure films but details are pending. You can have your own private film festival! (Popcorn is optional.)

Algonquin Outfitters will supply links when more information has been finalized. By signing up online through AO, you’ll be supporting the local outdoor adventure community while enjoying the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour at home this winter. If possible, AO may also host a live version of the world tour on the Algonquin Theatre’s big screen at a later point in 2021.

We would like to respectfully acknowledge that we are on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabeg, specifically the Chippewa, Ojibwa and Potawatomi peoples, under the terms of the Robinson-Huron Treaty #61 of 1850, and the Williams Treaties of 1923.

We are grateful to be here. We hope you are too.

Together, we honour all Indigenous peoples – First Nations, Métis and Inuit – for their cultures, their languages, their wise teachings and ways of being, their stewardship and protection of the lands and waters - and life - that have shaped this country since time began.

Together, we commit to acknowledge, to learn, to educate, to create opportunity and to honour sacred places, and to take actions toward real Truth and Reconciliation in support of our commitment to wellness for all, and to walking the path together in respect, peace and harmony for future generations.

G’chi miigwech. Thank you very much.
